Are restaurants killing us?

A couple of quick facts:

Fact 1 -- On average, people who consume fewer calories live

a LOT longer.

Fact 2 -- Most US restaurants serve gigantic portions.

Conclusion -- The more often you dine out, the heavier you are

likely to be, the sicker you are likely to be and the shorter

your life is likely to be.

In 2002 study was done at Penn State University. The subjects

were lean young men who exhibited a high level of calorie

control. That means they all had long time habits of not eating

much.

These men were given macaroni and cheese lunches on various

days.

On average, when the portion of macaroni and cheese they were

given was 16 ounces (a full pound), they ate 10 ounces.

But listen to this...

When the portions they were served ballooned to 25 ounces, on

average they ate 15 ounces (almost a full pound of macaroni and

cheese in a single sitting).

That's 50% more food.

That's 50% more calories.

That's HALF again the amount of food that they felt was

satisfactory on numerous occasions when the amount of food in

front of them was less.

So now you understand when I say the chances are excellent that

the more often you eat in a restaurant, the greater the

likelihood that...

...you will be fat, sick and dead too soon.

But wait a minute. If that were true in all cases, everyone

who dined out regularly would be fat and sick, with one foot in

the grave.

But they are not.

Yes, there are a shrinking minority that can go out to dinner

without over eating.

Many people call this willpower.

I call it thinking right about food... eating to live not

living to eat.

Nearly everyone gains weight as they get older, gets softer as

they get older.

Some of it has to do with poor food choices.

Some of it has to do with decreased physical activity.

Some of it has to do with decreasing hormone levels as we age.

All of those standard reasons combined with eating MORE than

your body needs, results in extra weight, more frequent sickness

and "higher mortality" (i.e. The faster you are dead).

So, since restaurants aren't going away anytime soon and since

those restaurants are going to continue to shove mountains of

food in front of you, it's up to us as individuals to reduce the

amount we eat.

The government is not going to do it for us...

Food manufacturers are not going to do it for us...

Restaurants won't do it for us...

Our friends won't do it for us...

You can only do it for you.

That's right, there are more temptations, more junk food, more

fast food restaurants on every corner and more commercials

promoting it than ever before.

But there are still lots of healthy, fit, trim people who

resist it.

How?

I thought you'd never ask!

The answer is the 22 mental patterns of healthy people are

working in the people who are healthy, trim and fit.

Want to learn how they do it? Want to have their beliefs and

attitudes about food? Want to have the self image of the

healthiest people alive concerning health?

Dear Mike,

I would like to share a story with you about your "Eating for

audio program. Last year I purchased the program and began

listening to it. I felt a huge resistance. I stopped listening

to the program but I kept reading your emails. I wondered about

whether I would really come to feel at peace with the

suggestions and drop the weight permanently.

A couple of months ago I began to read your book that came with

the program and found it amazing how quickly I'd be motivated

and feeling great! I began to use the audio program once again

and have now been listening to the suggestions at least 1 hour a

day for 1 month. Interestingly enough, I find that I actually

now crave hearing the words and I feel very good when the

suggestions pop into my mind during the day. I have lo.st 14

lbs. and am finding it easier to eat what I know is right. I was

also impressed by the quality information on the program, which

I have found from experience to be the most useful when I have

dropped weight in the past. I am confident that I will attain my

goal weight now and keep it off. Thank you for a wonderful

program and I'll let you know when I meet my goal of dropping 42

more lbs.

Mimi, NY
